Well, I say “and relax” but not really. It’s just after the fantastically exciting concert which I attended at the weekend today feels rather boring and a bit of a let down from the high spirited occasion but isn’t that always the way.
The Cupcakes which I made to support the charity AGE.UK at the concert went down a storm so that was a great feeling. All in all, it looks like £1500 pound (or thereabouts) was raised in total, which for one beautiful, little lady called Mrs Cyle Philipson – (my close friend and an excellent graphic designer) to have organised, produced, orchestrated and performed in too is no mean feat. With the help of her family and a few friends she has achieved a very noteworthy outcome which she should be very proud of.
However, it isn’t really “and relax” more a case of carrying on from where I left off – so back to the kitchen I must go starting with a few orders to be baked this week which I need to post for delivery to some customers around the UK.
This week apart from the orders for baking I have to finish some admin work and look into whether I need to have an alcohol licence to sell Cupcakes which have the little pipette dropper containing alcohol which are added to the top of the cake – for example Gin and Lemon Cupcakes – where the sponge is lemon flavoured and the gin is contained in the pipette which you squeeze into the cupcake to add some other flavour. My husband thinks I may have to have a special licence for to make these type of cakes so it is something I need to research. This is just an idea I want to try out as I think it is quite unusual and I have some cool ideas for flavours. I may have to contact the local council to get some idea of what I need to do unless one of my readers knows the answer.
This week the Foodie Calendar has mainly savoury days to celebrate so I may do a savoury treat box this week or include an idea I want to try out for today which is “National Oatmeal Cookie Day”. I have made Oatmeal Cookies before and shared recipes for them but this is slightly different again so I may have a recipe to add tomorrow for you to try for yourself. As it is “National Chocolate Caramel Day” on the 19th March 2019 I might try out something that I saw on Facebook yesterday for myself and see how it goes.
For the rest of today, I have the admin to finish and some research for ideas about chocolate fillings that don’t involve cream as when using cream it only has a short shelf life and I want to ideally be able to make the Handmade Chocolates and then store them in an airtight tin so I can make lots of them in advance – a lot less work for me. I haven’t added the chocolates to the webshop yet because of this problem with the fillings and the time constraints to make the chocolates. After all I am not “Mrs Quality Street” am I? 🙂
