It is “Lasagne Day” on Saturday but I am going to make my  Lasagne earlier so that I can share the photos and recipe before the day arrives. I am going to make a meat and meat free version as I am sure my family will manage to eat all of it. I am planning on taking plenty of photos to show the different stages – not that there are many stages. I am going to add these recipes to my other recipe sites  which like lots of photos of the different stages. Lasagne is so easy to make and is a great hit in my house. I make the cheese sauce  and ragù sauce from scratch as my family like it so much better than the ready meals and jars of sauces which you can buy in the supermarkets.

For the meat free version, I have onion, mushroom, courgette, broccoli and sweet peppers to use in the sauce as well as soy mince to fill it out a bit. For the meat version, I have beef mince to use in the recipe to which I will add onion and red pepper as one of daughter’s does not like any of the other vegetables I have available. I will ask her tomorrow if she wants to try any other vegetables just in case her tastes have changed. She is at that wonderful age where one minute she likes something and then she doesn’t. For the cheese sauce, I will make a basic roux sauce and add mustard, smoked paprika and lots of cheese to make a perfect cheese sauce. I will add the Meat Lasagne recipe and the Vegetarian Lasagne to my blog later.

I wonder if lasagne would cook in the [amazon_textlink asin=’B00ZA7QXIG’ text=’slow cooker’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’wwwlovetobake-21′ marketplace=’UK’ link_id=’874c736d-72b9-11e7-a723-0995dadc567d’]. Probably not as it would stick to the base and burn so forget that idea. I do like making lasagne as once you have layered it all up you can hide it in the fridge bake when it is dinner time. Lasagne is one of those meals where you can’t help but go back for seconds and it is one of those meals which I really look forward too. The part of making a Lasagne which I really hate is the washing up of three different pans that I have used for the two ragu sauces and the cheese sauce plus the grater, knives, wooden spoons and when everything is eaten the casserole dishes. However, I now have my two eldest daughters doing chores, such as washing up,  in order to earn their phones. Harsh I know, but they are too young to go and find a job somewhere and I think every child is capable of helping in the house as when they are adults they will have to do a lot more for themselves so I am just preparing them for the big, wide world.

Oh, before I go remember my second recipe book [amazon_textlink asin=’B06XZBL145′ text=’Easter Treats’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’wwwlovetobake-21′ marketplace=’UK’ link_id=’5dc5ce17-72b9-11e7-85a9-43f4a5c670fa’] goes on sale from the 1st of August for one week through Amazon. Grab a bargain while you can.

For the rest of the day, I need to get on with some packing as the time is ticking on and I have managed to get nothing done yet.
