Another week starts and it is already Wednesday and I have so much to do this week before the schools break up for half term. Yesterday, I baked on the morning then added the photos of what would be in the Friday Treat Boxes. I think doing this will really help people see what is available and so far I have had a great response through Facebook, my webshop and my Etsy shop too. I will definitely be doing this again and share what I am planning for the weekend coming. It is really nice to get the orders early so that I have time to make sure I have enough ingredients in before Friday comes around. It is nice to be organised don’t you think?
I think the fact I picked what I was going to bake the week before and planned ahead has helped to as I went into Monday with everything set in my head – then changed my mind at the last minute which is typical of me. I made a plan based on the Foodie Calendar and as a lot for the days are sweet bakes it gave me lot to work with. The bakes I chose are all ones which my family will enjoy so it looks like they will have something nice in their packed lunches this week.
I missed “I Love Reeses Day” which was on the 18th May but I really love the sound of this day. I love Reese’s so I was determined to bake something with these treats. I decided on Brownies topped with the “Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Cups” but I wanted to change a recipe for Brownies which I hadn’t used for a long time so I made these as a trial. However, the Brownies came out gooey in the middle and crunchy on the top which is probably how they are supposed to be but I don’t like them like this so I am not the best person to decide if they are okay to sell or not. The final decision was left to my quality control panel of husband and children who all gave the Reese’s Brownies a big thumbs up. You will note that the Brownies were also topped with Smarties as some of my children do not like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. You have to please them all don’t ya?
My other treats for the Friday Treat Box are new Loaf Cakes in two flavours – Cherry and Choc Chip or Lemon, Blueberry and White Chocolate. Both of these loaf cakes were based on a muffin recipe that I use. I don’t know why I chose to make them using this recipe but I did and I have tried both flavours and I love them both. I decorated the Cherry & Choc Chip Muffin Cake with freshly whipped cream, cherry pieces and chocolate sprinkles and for the Lemon, Blueberry & White Chocolate Cake I decorated it with lemon glace icing, fresh blueberries and white chocolate pieces. I baked loaf sized muffins and mini loaf muffins which are now available on the webshop. I chose these flavours as it is “National Blueberry Cheesecake Day” and “National Cherry Dessert Day” on the 26th May. I know that neither of these bakes are a cheesecake or dessert really but they are still delicious.
I woke up to an Etsy order this morning so which I set about baking so that I had the rest of the day for researching sugar free baking and satsuma recipes as I have interest from a couple of customers about the former and I have a large supply of satsumas to use up in my kitchen which I don’t want to waste. For Thursday, I may venture back to the sugarcraft and have a go at some more sugarpaste flowers and I am hoping to catch up on the paperwork tonight if at all possible. I am looking forward to Friday as I have plenty of baking to do and several different orders to complete. Busy, busy, busy just the way I like.
