Well what can I say but WOW, WOW and more WOW!! I have so much to write about but I don’t know where to start. I had been writing my plans for posts which I was going to do for the next week or so but my plans have had to change.
The main change that has happened has been the sale of our house 🙂 which I am happy about but slightly sad about too, as we have lived here a long time. It is a big step to move on to pastures new but I am up to challenge. The hard work over the last few months in lockdown has paid off. 🙂 My husband and I have not stopped so to sell the house is a big relief. The news of the house sale has halted my studying which I really want to keep going with as I want to finish this teaching course sooner rather than later.
As I have so much to think about and organise I am closing the webshop so that I can really spend some time finishing off my other jobs as I feel like the home baking side of business takes up a lot of my time. I need to find some time to concentrate on the house buying side, studying and come back to my business with all guns blazing. A couple of weeks or so and I think my mind will be better organised because running a business, buying a house and studying does take its toll.
Also, there are changes I want to do in my recipe books as I have made a few changes to recipes and ideas over the years since I wrote these books. It is always good to update things, as and when you need to don’t you think?
Baking wise this last week has gone by so quickly as I have had Birthday Cakes, milk free bakes, Millionaire Shortbread, Empire Biscuits and Peach Melbas and Cheese Scones to bake for customers, both postal deliveries and collection.
The Birthday Cakes were based on the rainbow theme one which I baked and decorated a while ago but this time there were two to do. I don’t say yes to many Birthday Cake orders as I feel there are so many bakers who do these and I don’t have the space with four children in the house. I would worry too much if they were to accidentally knock a cake over and I wouldn’t be able to rest until a Birthday Cake was collected.
The milk free bakes were for a customer whose child is allergic to milk and these bakes have the milk content increased, every other day, so that they can see when the child has an allergic reaction to the food so that they can then know how allergic the child is to milk. Quite a clever method but it involves baking and making savoury and sweet foods for the child to eat for a period of about ten days which can be quite stressful. This is still ongoing but we are getting there and I know the child is getting a chance to bake at home too some of the recipes which is always fun 🙂
Monday was “Empire Biscuit Day” in my kitchen as I have several orders to post of these very popular biscuits along with a couple of bakes as a surprise for a regular customer and something else which I can’t say too much about yet. 🙂 After that I closed the webshop but just for a wee while so I can start on other jobs and feel like I am back in control. I will be back though so please don’t forget about me and I have some new ideas in the pipeline so keep watching for more details coming soon 🙂
